HIATUS IS LATIN FOR 'WE QUIT'
Posted 1/3/07

It's a new year. A time for reflecting over the past twelve months and making resolutions in hopes of bettering ourselves and making the up coming year a better one. Well, last year we were all in a band called Vote Quimby, and it's time to kick the habit. As of last night we've decided to make the new year's resolution not to rock out any more and we're going to give Vote Quimby a rest. This will free us up to pursue our own interests like John's stamp collecting, Evan's reanimating dead tissue experiment, and Alex will be able to spend more time playing video games.

Seriously though, we just decided it doesn't make sense to keep doing this right now. Don't worry, though. If it's anything like any of our other new year's resolutions, we'll be back to bad habits of kicking ass and taking names in no time. For now though, we really are just tired and are going to enjoy hanging out as friends again, instead of band mates. Hopefully, in light of this, you will be able to accept our personal invitation to you all to see us out with a band by attending one or both of the Last Days of Quimby. We'll be playing our last show at the Ottobar on Thursday, January 25, and our LAST last show will be on Friday February 23 at the Redhouse Tavern. We're expecting both of these shows to be epic, and if you've never taken the opportunity to see us play, these will be your last chances.

That's it. I'll probably keep myspace going, so people can continue to access our wonderful, wonderful songs. Also, we'll probably eventually get around to finishing that album we started, just since it's so close to the end, but don't rush us.... just because we're not in a band anymore doesn't mean we're not still lazy and poor.

TALK NERDY TO US
Posted 10/22/06

Exciting things are brewing for Quimby. Things that we want to share with YOU. How many bands do you know that have their own computer game? Well, take that number and add one to it, because now there is a Vote Quimby video game, available HERE.

Also, we got the masters back on our tracks for our online EP, Talk Nerdy to Me featuring a new video for one of the tracks, Sci-Fi Nerd. Included on the release are Limited Time Only, Traitors to the Cause, To Be Continued, and of course, Famine 3: Famished. Look for it soon all over the web, for FREE. FREE!? Yep, FREE!

In addition to that we have some shows coming up, so check our Calendar for those. Don't miss our Halloween costume party at Red House Tavern this Saturday, on OCTOBER 28th. Show starts at 10:00. We'll be playing with 7 Days Torn, so don't miss it!

That is all, now leave us alone.

CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATORY BLOG UPDATE
Posted 9/9/06

Checking through our records, I realized it was about time for another blog. What is going on in the world of Quimby? I wish I could report nothing more than sunshine and lollipops... and the occasional breast. The truth is we have been slaving away in our secret laboratory perfecting a machine that will reanimate dead tissue. Right now, it only deep fries things, but it's getting there.

In other news, we're back at Fletcher's this month. It's going to be epic. Evan's been surgerized, Alex is back from tour, John and I learned how to play guitars.... we're all pretty sure this one's going to rock. Come out and witness this historic event. SATURDAY: SEPTEMBER 23, 2006 @ FLETCHER'S!. Joining us will be The Fallen Lie, Aeva Disaster and Cutlery. Come for them, stay for US!

And this concludes our website update. We now return you to your regularly schedule porn persuing (already in progress).

WE'RE STILL HUNGOVER!
Posted 7/11/06

So, to anybody that didn't make it to the party, let me just say it flat out: your loss. It was off the hook and then some. Even an appearance by the cops couldn't stop it! A big "thank you" goes out to our pals, Can't Hang, Ballyhoo, and The Grays for playing. And of course, a big "Thumbs Up" to our housemates, Opposable Thumbs, for closing out the night. 5 kegs & 9 thirty packs of beer gave their lives so that we could be a bunch of drunken fools. So please, let's take a moment of silence in remembrance of the fallen...

Okay, that's enough on that. This past weekend was the last hurrah for VQ until the end of August for shows. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our appearance at the Get Gnarly Video premier at the end of the month. Evan, who had previously been surgerized, needs to be re-surgerized, because the original surgerizing wasn't... er... surgical enough.... I guess. Due to various availability of facilities, etc., he will be having it a day or so prior to the Get Gnarly gig, and then will require ample healing time. Unlike last time, we're giving it to him this time. Quimby will return at the end of August.

In the meantime, we are having the new CD mastered this month and are looking forward to having a final product. Printing that final product is another ordeal, but we'll deal with that later. Anyway, to all our friends & extended rocking family: thanks for making the party absolutely fucking awesome!

NEW COMIC IN THE HIZZLE!
Posted 6/18/06

That's right. I finally finished another comic. I finally ran out of excuses and sat down and shat one out in about five minutes. Is it funny? No, but at least it's new.

Other than that, not much is going on. We're making preparations for our house party on Saturday, 7/8. You're all coming to that, right? We've nearly completed our machine designed to reanimate dead tissue. Stay tuned for some exciting news on that front.

If you have any ounce of kindness, you'll come out to our Noise in the Basement show at Fletcher's on Monday, 6/26. Once again, we've hand picked the bands to ensure an awesome evening. This show will feature the triumphant return of our estranged lead guitarist. Come watch us get drunk and make fun of you.

VOTE QIUGLEY OWNS YOUR SOUL!
Posted 5/15/06

A big thanks to all our friends who came out Saturday! The show was a blast, and the 8x10 absolutely rules. Brickfoot, who we had never rocked with before, was great, and Colouring Lesson rocked as always. Ben got plastered. Since usually I'm the one that gets plastered, I enjoyed the role reversal. We also got a kick out of the misspelling of our name backstage on the green room door: "Vote Qiugley." It's awesome when even the typo has a typo typo (ignore that second "typo"... it was a typo). Jon2 did a great job filling in on guitar for John1 who couldn't attend the gig because he had to save a group of orphans from a burning building. That guy's a hero damn it! So Jon2 – thanks man. We are in your debt and you did a great job.... and you're fired! John1 – welcome back!

Anyway, unfortunately our gig on 5/27 at Coyotes in Delaware with Abstraxt has been cancelled due to a scheduling mishap. We will get back out there at some point this summer, though. The next confirmed show is 6/26 at Fletchers for 98 Rock's Noise in the Basement.

In other news, the new Quimby EP is all mixed! Keep your eyes peeled for some more new material in the next month or so. We'll also have a new comic posted up in the near future (pending Ben's recovery from acute laziness). Plus, we've got a new t-shirt for sale at shows from this point on. It replaces those old, invisible shirts we've been selling forever.

So, thanks for Voting "Qiugley" and remember: FUCK VOTE SANCHEZ!

I PITY THE SUCKERS THAT MISSED THE SHOW
Posted 4/23/06

Well, we played to a packed house at the Velvet Lounge in DC thanks to Full Minute of Mercury (assholes). We were not arrested, yet again. Outside of that, the night went quite well. We made some new awesome friends in the forces that are The Dance Party (who live up to their name) and The Unlovables (who do not). I have a feeling we'll be seeing both those guys again real soon.... because we stole their socks.

Seriously though, everyone rocked. Even we weren't that bad! Full Minute was particularly great as per usual. Tom and Krafty wouldn't stop hitting on me all night. Sorry boys, I'm taken. Kelly autographed me a band photo referring to me as the love of her life (*star struck*). I'm having it appraised tomorrow. Though it wasn't explicitly stated in the note, I'm pretty sure the plan is for Kelly and me to run off together and start a band called Full Minute of Butt Sex..... then again...... I might be reading too much into it.

Spring is slowly building into summer. We'll be having some exciting goings on this year. More on that as it develops. For now, mark down Saturday May 13th on your schedule. We'll be playing at the restored 8x10 opening up for Maryland legend: Colouring Lesson. This show will be epic. If you miss this one your right foot will rot and fall off, Allah will declare a jihad on you, and the ghost of Fruma Sarah will visit you in a nightmarish yet musical dream and declare that if your daughter Tzeitel marries Lazar Wolf she will be in mortal danger.

I'm Out. See you all at The 8x10 on May 13th.

FOOTLOOSE ALL UP IN THIS BITCH
Posted 3/28/06

So, we finally figured out our legal strategy (a.k.a. Fucket) and got Footloose up for sale on CD Baby and in all Record & Tape Traders across Maryland. You have officially run out of excuses to own this CD. If you loved the movie, if you hated the movie, it doesn't make a difference, this album will rock your socks off.

Our show at Fletcher's earlier this month went really well. Thanks to all the friends who came out. This includes the awesome bands we got to play with us: February Falling, Can't Hang, and of course Full Minute of Mercury (rumor has it there is in fact only 54 seconds of Mercury). We get to play again with those guys at Velvet Lounge in DC. We will be cutting off their heads and taking their quickening at this show, so don't miss it!

In final news, one of the songs from our upcoming album is nearing completion, and you'll ONLY hear it from.... well.... pretty much anyone we can get to play it. Stay tuned for more details.

BACK TO LIFE, BACK TO REALITY
Posted 1/29/06

Vote Quimby was resurrected last night at a bar in Delaware with our good friends Abstraxt. It's always a good time playing with those boys. Thanks for having us out. We're looking forward to playing their CD Release Party on March 4. It's going to be a killer show. Also, thanks to Dash Eight who happened to be stopping by. They hung out for our set. They, too, are working on a new album which we can't wait to hear. Man! It seems like everyone is working on a new CD except us....

Wait! We are working on a new CD. In fact we got the rough tracks back from the studio a few weeks ago, and we're pretty sure it has the power to unite the world in peace like in the end of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. It'll be done around late Spring, and then you can decide.

On further notes: We're booking shows again. Evan is on the cusp of recoverydom. We've got some really fun shows planned this year. Also, check out this site because we'll be in an upcoming podcast . More fun things to be disclosed at a later date. Don't forget to eat your vegetables.

FOOTLOOSE UNLEASHED
Posted 12/23/05

High on pain killers and adrenaline, I was up all night after our CD Release party on Dec 10th at Fletcher's. Around 9:00AM I became inspired to compose a short quimblog that highlighted the important points of the evening. I can say without ego that it was the most beautifully crafted prose ever to grace the Western World. Unfortunately, something went awry, and the blog was only up for about a day before our web server swallowed it whole. And it's been so long, that I can't actually remember anything that happened at our CD Release Party, except we left Fletcher's floor pretty dirty and I didn't have to carry any of my equipment. Thanks to everyone who came out. We did our best to make it a memorable event.

As for now. We're taking a bit of a break. Alex is transition drummer for Can't Hang while they find a new drummer. Frankly, they can have Alex, but I can see why they wouldn't want him. Evan needs a tune up, and I am on the final stages of recovery from my back injury, so this break was timed well.

We'll be back bigger and badder next year. Just keep your appetites whet, you all have no idea how much our next album is going to rock. We just the rough cuts back from Drew, and it's already the best album we've done! If you even liked Footloose, you'll LOVE the new one. Pleasant dreams on that thought. And have a rockin' new year (unless you are not on the Imperial Calendar - then happy nothing).

~b

P.S. .... oh, there's a copy of the old blog up on our myspace.... Oh, well. I don't feel like copying it back over here...

WEBSITE COOLIFIED
Posted 11/8/05

In light of some big new steps in our progression towards world domination, we made some cool changes to our website. Our CD, Adequately Prepared to Rock is now available at CD Baby, Tower Records in Annapolis, and Record and Tape Traders along with Ocean's 11 in downtown Annapolis. The options are approaching infinite for ways to pick our album, so you are running out of options of why you don't own a copy. Pick one up TODAY!

And while you're in the neighborhood of our site, check out all the changes we made.... well I made.... Evan, Alex, and John didn't do shit. All the same enjoy it. Send us some emails telling us you hate us, and make sure you check out the shows page to find out when you can see us next, and then pop over to the lyrics section so you are Adequately Prepared to Sing Along.

Make sure, if you can see us no other time, that you clear your schedule for the Footloose CD Release Party on December 10th at Fletcher's. It's all ages, so bring your mom and dad. This show is going to be epic, and you get a copy of the CD for the price of admission, not to mention some killer performances by some of Maryland's best local bands: Can't Hang, Minus One, and February Falling. Miss this show, and you'll be crying yourself to sleep 'til KISS does another reunion tour.

See you in Quimbland

TOO DRUNK TO FINISH OUR ALBUM
Posted 10/15/05

Last night, at approximately 11:00PM ET, the surviving members of the rock band Vote Quimby finished principal recording on their next full length album slated for release late Spring of 2006. We stumbled out of High View Studios after making Drew Mazurek suffer through twelve straight hours of our out-of-tune vocals. We left behind mountains of shitty, shitty tracks that are now Drew's problem. Good luck, Drew.... you'll need it.

Fortunately for us, we don't have to think about these songs again until some time next year when we finally hear back from Drew that he's made a deal with the Devil or something in order to make our CD sound ten times better than Adequately Prepared to Rock. Don't ask how. You don't actually want to know, but rest assured, that it is going to fly circles around our last album. More on that when we have proof in our hands, for now we focus on our interim album, Footloose: The Revised Motion Picture Soundtrack. This one's going to be ready by Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, and Voodoo Day. Make this year's holiday shopping easy and just buy everyone a VQCD. Pat's mom would like it!

And finally, now that we never have to record anything ever again so long as we live, I vow that I will most likely be on myspace more often and will definitely probably be releasing more of those zany comic strips more regularly, so there will be plenty of reason to swing by and check out our site.... did we mention there's porn in our video section?

NEW FOREIGN ALLIANCE FORGED
Posted 10/3/05

Last Friday we played a last minute show with our boys (pronounced ¡boyeez! ) from Minus One at Murphy's Pub, down on their turf. The show was a huge success (success of any given show is calculated by the ratio of the number of patrons who don't attack us with sticks to the number of patrons with sticks). Highlights of the evening include beer, more beer, and other such things. Also, we wanted to give a shout out to our newly found friends from the KICK ASS band Full Minute of Mercury. Those guys were so busy kicking ass that they didn't bother to take names. We are looking forward to playing many more shows with them.

In other news: principal production on our new full length album, currently entitled Too Drunk to Fish, begins this week. We'll be recording at Mazurek Studios. Vote Quimby Drew Mazurek = Candy Coated Goodness. Don't believe me? Check out the proof from our last release, Adequately Prepared to Rock available online at Feoh Records.

That's it for this week's Quimblog. Tune in next week. Same Quimby time. Same Quimby channel. Find out which member of Vote Quimby gets fired! (hint: John)

VOTE QUIMBY TO MOVE TO PLANET PEELANDER
Posted 9/27/05

Three events since the dawn of time stand as pillars, supporting the foundation of global society. First, man learns to create and control fire. Second, the Russians launch the first manned flight into outer space. For a long time, I was convinced that the third was the development of the half-off coupon at the All-You-Can-Eat Golden Dragon Buffet. Last night I was proven wrong.

At 11:49PM, September 26, 2005, Peelander-Z, from the Z region of the planet Peelander, descended upon the Mojo Lounge in Baltimore. They were a sight to behold. Peelander-Z is irrefutable evidence that not only does intelligent extraterrestrial life exist, but that it knows how to fucking ROCK, too! If you missed this historic event, please believe me when I say that you have missed the opportunity to be more entertained than you've ever been in your entire life, and I say that without hyperbole. Please check with anyone who was there, such as Stupid Hero (who also rocked), Steve and Luke from Can't Hang (who don't completely suck), or Christian and Mike from February Falling (thanks so much for coming out guys!). A time was had by all.

Alex has made an open challenge to everyone on the planet to go to a live performance of Peelander-Z, and not be entertained. Good luck.

Meanwhile, on planet Earth... Vote Quimby gears up for world domination. It's a well known fact that we're full of ourselves (overfull, actually), so it will come as no big surprise to you when we say our forthcoming CD, Footloose: The Revised Motion Picture Soundtrack will be the most fantastic thing you could put in your CD player... other than perhaps a cleaner of some sort... or a foreign language CD... "Mi pádre gusta hombres peludos" ... But, it's definitely high on the list. If you don't believe us, come to our CD release party in early December (date and location TBA) where one night, and one night only WE WILL PERFORM THE SOUNDTRACK IN ITS ENTIRETY. Shame on you for missing Peelander-Z, but may Ala have mercy on your SOUL if you miss the CD release party!

Thanks to our constituents for... well... for being our constituents. Keep reading our mindless blogs, and keep Voting Quimby.

MUSIC VIDEO OR DEATH
Posted 9/19/05

Look Jerry, it's like this...

Our music video for I'm Not Bitter Song is finally finished, and we couldn't be more pleased. If you haven't seen it yet, you're missing out, and you're sure to be the laughing stock of all your friends.... and us. For those of you with astute powers of observation, you might notice that the rhythm guitarist in the video does not look like Vote Quimby's current rhythm guitarist (a.k.a. me). I would like to tell you that that is because I had facial reconstructive surgery after the incident, but Alex wants me to tell you that the man in the video is our first rhythm guitarist, Pearce Arnold.... You decide which is the truth.

In other news, Footloose is nearing completion. We just have one more guest star to track and then we're done.... then all we'll need to do is learn how to play the songs and we'll be in business.... Footloose business..... I don't know what that means.

One final note, we'll be playing at the Mojo Lounge on Monday, the 26th of September. We know no body wants to come out on a Monday, but suck it up because we'll be playing with the infamous Peelander-Z from the planet Peelander whose varity of stunt punk with daze and confuse all of us. Be there for this historic event.

FOOTLOOSE TOO GOOD FOR THE LIKES OF YOU
Posted 8/18/05

Just thought we'd give an update in this seemingly slow month. While you are all out enjoying live shows by all your second favorite local bands, your favorite band has been busy in the studio working on our forthcoming epic release, Footloose: The Revised Motion Picture Soundtrack - slated for a late fall 2005 release. As of last night, Vote Quimby has finished laying down all the tracks that we'll be performing on this record. We still have plenty of friends who said they'd be on the album that we need to get in for guest appearances. As of now, appearances from such local musicians as Jasan of Dog Fashion Disco, Sean, Frank, and Matt from Ramrod, Jim, Christian, Joe, and Mike from February Falling have all laid stellar tracks on our record. Thanks for letting us exploit your talents, guys! Also, we're looking forward to recording more guest appearances including members of Abstraxt, Can't Hang, and Minus One.

We're still looking for a Trombone Playerto lay down some simple stuff on the record, so if you know someone (or are someone) who can play a trombone, get in touch with us: votequimbyband@yahoo.com.

We haven't played in a while, we miss you all. Come to one of our two shows next weekend and remember what it used to be like when we played shows all the time.

HOLY CRAP! WE LOST!
Posted 8/5/05

Well, the month of July is finally over, and MAN what a ride! The Recher Warped Tour Finals show was absolutely awesome and completely packed. It's always weird playing a battle of the bands, as sometimes there can be some tension between the acts that are competing. Not at all this time, though. Everybody was cool and the show was so big we honestly didn't even care about winning. Big thanks to all the bands that played, as without you, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as awesome and successful: Random Hero, Boy Crazy, Living For Today, Dead Above Ground, and the winners: Burning Rosewood.

We'll be spending the first couple weeks in August here resting after our July marathon of shows & recording. We're in the process of laying down the vocal tracks on Footloose, and have also got some of the guest stars in already. Just wait until you hear Jasan's (Dog Fashion Disco) cello intro for Almost Paradise. It's gonna be fantastic!

In the meantime, we'll be playing again by the end of the month, first rocking out with our pals The Big Hurt on 8/27 at the Island Inn in Stevensville, then playing Woods in Severna Park the following day. We'll have a couple September shows as well, and then it's time for the new VQ CD! We'll be going back into the studio to make our second full length album with Drew Mazurek at the end of September, and we can't wait! So far, it's been an awesome summer, and i'm sure it's gonna stay that way.

So remember, Down with Vote Sanchez! Vote Quimby!

HOLY SHIT! WE WON!
Posted 7/22/05

Thanks to everyone who came late and missed our show on Wednesday. Somehow we won. Apparently all the fellatio paid off. This means that everyone in the world must come see us lose at The Recher in Towson next Saturday, July 30th. We need the support.... otherwise we might win. So come out for that one! If you don't.... murders will ensue.

We also had a kick ass show last night at the Sidebar with Ramrod! Always a blast playing with those guys. Look for more shows with them in the future!

Everything else we've been talking about forever is still in the works. You'll be as surprised as we are when we finally have a video for I'm Not Bitter Song, The Footloose Soundtrack is finished, we have a song in a Troma pictures production, we're plugged on the radio, and we're playing a date on the Warped Tour. Until then, adieu.

MORNING WOOD ACQUIRED!
Posted 7/19/05

We were stoked to play 98 Rock's Noise in the Basement, we felt special when we were chosen to participate in WRNR's Land Your Band competition, and we shit a brick when we had the opportunity to play this year's HFStival, but nothing, NOTHING, tops this past weekend's Home Depot Festival. I will conjure up all of my powers over the English language in order to accurately describe the magical feeling we felt when our crowd doubled throughout the day! There was one of those inflatable jumping rooms, there were customers with funny looks on their faces, there were water fairies distributing coolers of water (they were surreptitiously dressed as Home Depot employees). And nothing beats the experience of playing to the most stoic of entities, the Home Depot building. If it had the power to applaud... it probably wouldn't have, but still! I tell you! Best thing we've done yet. Thanks so much to Kick in the Pants for having us down.

Other weekend highlights include a show we put on at the VFW in Pasadena. Mad thanks to Ramrod, Twice Hitter, Time Will Tell, and Montauk Project for playing with us. They were all excellent. We closed down the night, and Evan got hit in the face with his microphone by the out--of-control mosh pit during Advertisemento. I think we should make it into part of our show - Evan getting hit in the face, that is. He seemed less than agreeable, but he'll come around. We'll be playing with Ramrod again on Thursday at the Sidebar, so if you missed them this past weekend, catch them there, they ROCK! Then Sunday evening we played a benefit concert for Rob Windsor. I am told the event, unfortunately, didn't do as well as hoped. It's sad, too, because there were a lot of really talented bands that played at this event. But we had a lot of fun and really appreciate Chrissy for inviting us to play.

We also had the opportunity last Thursday to play with Kim and Jody at the Hard Rock Cafe in part of 98 Rocks' Rock the Dock series. We played acoustically! Let me just say that even we didn't know we could rock that hard acoustically. Perhaps we really are as good as we keep saying we are.... So those are all the shows you probably missed. We've got two more this week. Come out to Fletcher's on Wednesday, July 20th AND the Sidebar on Thursday, July 21st.

.... Oh, and Footloose is coming along nicely. A little more than half done. I'm sure you're all looking forward to buying a copy when it is completed, so we'll make sure to announce when it's ready.

WHY FOOTLOOSE BLOWS!
Posted 7/1/05

Big thanks to everyone that came out to Fletchers last night. We had an awesome time and it's all because of YOU!. Well.............. also because of alcohol. But MOSTLY because of you! It was the final chapter of the Vote Quimby/February Falling/Minus-One Trifecta of shows! I'm sure we'll be playing with those folks again though, so don't worry too much if you missed it. You'll get your chance. A special "shout out" goes to our homies in Can't Hang for coming out to party last night. Have fun on your Cali-Adventure fellas!

So, ever see the movie Footloose? Dear lord, what a horrid movie. Seriously. So late one night, we're sitting around drunk flipping through channels and Footloose comes on television. It's right at the part where Kevin Bacon is offered free pot from some kid at school, which apparently pisses him off (inner city youth pissed at farm boy for supplying the reefer? I don't think so....). Then he goes home and gets some flack from his Dad, so what does he do to alleviate his rage? He drives his Volkswagon to a dark warehouse, wherein he dances solo to a horrible song called "Never." Speaking of which, what chode wrote that piece of crap? I can see the inner workings of his mind now: "Hmmmm........ what rhymes with Never......... Wait, i've got it! Never ryhmes with Never!" And as if that's not ridiculous enough, when these kids who have never danced before (because it's "evil") finally get their own dance, they're all suddenly Michael Jackson (pre-child molesting days, when he was still black.) That's how stupid this movie is.

But most of all................... the SOUNDTRACK is silly, yet annoyingly catchy. It's a bastion of 80's cheese rock, ranging from "Let's Hear it for the Boy," to "Almost Paradise." Suddenly it dawned on us: "wait a minute..... we're silly but annoyingly catchy too!" And so, starting tomorrow, we begin recording our new album: the soundtrack to Footloose, Vote Quimby style! We hope to have it available at shows by fall (at which time we'll be recording our actual new album of real, honest to god Vote Quimby songs.)

So again, thanks to those that came out last night, and remember: Footloose is a waste of film!

THERE'S ALWAYS SOMEONE COOLER THAN US!
Posted 6/26/05

Thanks to all our fans who made it out to the Land Your Band competition this past Thursday and witnessed our demise. We had a blast! Actually, all things being equal, the victors, Dash Eight, really were a talented and sincerely cool buch of guys. We wish them luck as they proceed on to the semi-finals. May the force be with them.

We drank it off and felt all better by the time we woke up the following afternoon. And we had another chance to bore people at Nancy and George's house party this weekend. We had a lot of fun there, too. Thanks to Minus One for hooking us up with the show and rocking out, to Nancy and George for their hospitality, and to that one guy who seemed to kind of like us.

And so, life continues with a show at Fletcher's this Thursday. Again, we'll be playing with Minus One (Jesus, you'd think we were married to them or something), February Falling, and All Ends Well. This show is gonna melt your face, so you'd better be there or you may be cursed to have a face for the rest of your days.

And that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and making the responsible choice to Vote Quimby.

WHO'S HOUSE? AMY'S HOUSE!
Posted 6/13/05

Played a party on Saturday. It could just be the booze talking, but we had a wicked great time. It's always a good time to see and/or play with Minus One! We're looking forward to playing with them, February Falling, and All Ends Well on June 30th at Fletcher's. That show is going to rock! If you're not there, you'll be sorry.

We finally saw the rough draft for the I'm Not Bitter Song music video. Thanks to everyone who helped with that. We hope to have a finished product by the end of this month. Brinton Jaecks is working his ass off to get us that and we really appreciate all he's done.

Lots of stuff going on in Not So Bad Studios which keeps Evan pretty busy. The next few weeks we will be finishing up the Opposable Thumbs' new record, laying down a demo for Perfect Size Zero, and finishing up two new Quimby projects. Then after we rock out on the 30th, we wake up in July (unless we rock too hard) and immediately begin production on our new record, which will be most triumphant. And as soon as that one's done... we'll be recording another.... so if you don't hear from us until October, that's why.... But in the midst of all of that we'll be playing plenty of shows so make sure you come out and see us!

WILL VOTE QUIMBY REIGN FOREVER?!

Yes, they will.... Or will they? We don't really know if we'll keep up our insanely busy schedule on a spiralling helix towards world domination, but it sure seems that way. Actually, we still get excited when we sell a CD. "$7? Let's go celebrate!" $700 later we wake up in a strange place with no memory of the night before. The only clues as to the previous night's goings on are a new tattoo and a sore ass. Which reminds me, we finally got the new shipment of CD's in, so if you were waiting for that, wait no more. Pick one up today at www.feohrecords.com.

But I digress. I really just wanted to put up a note to say thanks to everyone who came out to see us on Friday at Fletcher's, and to all the people there that didn't come to see us, but were good to us nonetheless. If you couldn't make it, don't despair, we'll be back at Fletcher's on Thursday, June 30th with Minus One, February Falling, and All Ends Well. We will rock the house most assuredly. Come out for a great time!

Yesterday we recorded some special project tunes for this and for that in the Quimby basement at Not So Bad Studios! If you're trying to find a cheap place to record a great sounding demo or album, get in touch with us: votequimbyband@yahoo.com.

That's about it. Hope to see you soon.

JESUS, WE'RE LONG WINDED JERKS!
Posted 5/23/05

Friday, 5/20 4:00 PM ET.... "Alex, can you pick me up from work?" "Ben, I've had the worst day. Complications with the neighbors. Rain / can't get a stage setup. I'm in the worst mood." "Then don't pick me up, I'll walk. Let's just rock Woods tonight..." and so we did. And what a great time it was. Big thanks to our Pope, Kasey, for being there and helping us move our equipment and setting up. She rocks! And thanks to everyone hanging out with us... pics should be up tomorrow... HI-LARIOUS! And big thanks to Corey / MLBB and Luke for helping us promote. We had a great turn out, and managed not to worry about the house party until we woke up after too little sleep the following morning.

"No, let's just do it all anyway...." and so it was that Saturday morning food and beer was aquired, along with the materials to make a fairly decent stage. We threw that up, and a tarp to keep out the nice weather (because if the tarp hadn't gone up, it would have rained) and got our buddy and former member of VQ, Double D, to run sound. Boy, was he the dog's bollocks! The sound was so great. Thanks, Dave. Thanks, also, to Can't Hang, Minus One, and Opposable Thumbs for playing with us. Always an honor to share a stage with those boys. And thanks to all who came out to the party. I hope you all had as much fun as we did. It was a hella work load, but totally worth it.... maybe "end of summer" party coming....?

Now, our busy May is over. Alex is leaving for a week to hang out with something he calls "friends" - whatever that is. We're gearing up to do some recordings this summer. Got a music video for I'm Not Bitter Song, looking like it should be ready next month. Should have a review of our HFS show on Feoh's website, hopefully in time for June. Everything's coming up Quimby! Things may not actually be coming up Quimby

IMPERIAL STORMTROOPERS ARREST VOTE QUIMBY AT THE HFSTIVAL!
Posted 5/16/05

Holy Crap! Where to begin…… Well, first off all, big thanks to everyone who checked us out at HFStival this weekend! We had an awesome time all thanks to YOU! The day started early. We had our stuff loaded in by 9:00 in the morning. We got to check out the backstage area of the main stage in the morning, which was kinda fun. Saw our homies in Gold Mind Squad set up & sound check before we headed towards the main gates.

We spent the morning flyering for our set time, and then headed back to the stage to get ready. Evan had been under the weather for over a week or so, and we contemplated firing him and going with some random old guy as our singer about 5 minutes before our set time. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a random old guy that was creepy enough, or that knew the words to the songs, so we decided "fuck it, let's rock!!" We hit the stage and started rocking.

This is when the best..... accident..... EVER.... happened. And I'll bet that if you were watching, you thought it was all part of the plan. It was not. I swear. Our techie/buddie Luke found Stormtroopers! Honest to god, fully garbed Stormtroopers. So, we went into an unscheduled performance of the Imperial March, during which, it appeared that one of the Stormtroopers attempted to fire John (we have the pictures to prove it!).

At the end of the set, we gave away nearly 200 CD's in about 5 minutes flat. It was just incredible. We're still floored by it. Thank you everyone for your support. You guys all rule! In addition to the crowd, we'd like to thank the following folks for making Saturday so Frickin' awesome: Chris Keith & HFS for having us, Andrew Jaecks & Andrea Baker for the pics, Luke (the force is strong with this one), our bro's in Can't Hang (you rule!), the Stormtroopers, Robin, Jo & Rob for helping us flyer, Big O & Dukes from HFS for the on air plug and kind words, and Gold Mind Squad for the plug from the main stage.

What's next in Quimbyland? Come watch us rock some faces off at Woods this Friday in Severna Park, and then it's back to the Quimby Compound on Saturday for a giant bash featuring ourselves, Minus-One, Can't Hang, and Opposable Thumbs! Vote Quimby!

EVERY GOOD SHOW DESERVES ANOTHER!
Posted 5/7/05

Well, we played with Minus-One and February Falling again last night. Those guys just get better every time we see them. It was a really great time and we are looking forward to playing many more shows with both those guys. Hopefully we'll have those guys up to our house party; if only we knew when it would be, but Alex won't get off his ass and figure that out. He's fired.

Stay tuned for plenty more exciting stuff happening the rest of this month. This coming Saturday, the 14th, we'll be playing on the local stage at the HFStival. If you're up that way stop by and say hi. The following Friday, May 20th, we'll be playing at Woods in Severna Park again, which is always a good time. And keep your schedule open because the house party will mostly likely be on the 21st at the Quimby Compound in Annapolis.

We've got some other exciting recording projects coming up; can't divulge too much info on that right now until there's something more defininte to report, but just remember that when Alex declared 2005 to be the year of the Quimby, he was dead on!

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY QUIMBY, B-YOTCH!
Posted 4/22/05

Yee-Haw Mo'Frackas!! First of all, big thanks to all that came out to the show at Fletchers on Monday. Thanks to Matt Davis & 98 Rock for having us, and thanks to February Falling for hooking us up. Also, big thanks to our new friends Minus-One & Silent Film. They rocked, hardcore! We had so much fun, we just had to do it again! So check it out as Minus-One, February Falling, and ourselves rock the ever loving sh*t out of Murphy's Pub on May 6, 2005!

On a sadder note, our private party here in Annapolis for 4/23 has been cancelled due to a little something the scientist big shots call "precipitation." Worry not, it WILL be rescheduled. It's not in stone or anything just yet, but rest assured, you'll read about the new date here first.

On to the next month! We were fortunate enough to get a spot on the local stage for HFStival this year, so please come check it out on 5/14/05 at Ravens (or whatever the hell the corporate bullsh*t name for it is) Stadium. We'll have TONS of free crap there, I swear! After that, we're back to rock at Woods in Severna Park on 5/20/05. On top of that, we may have that private shindig in the week following, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled and check out the site.

Well, that's about it for now. Things are going well, and if you haven't seen us just yet, you'll get your chance this summer! In the meantime, just sit back, relax and chill and remember above all else: F*ck Recycling.

JOSE DRIVES OUR TOUR VAN
Posted on 4/7/05

When we posted our new website we made a resolve to update the QuimblogTM on a regular basis, to make sure there was some interesting news up at all times. It isn't so much that we failed at keeping it updated as it is that we failed at being interesting people or having interesting things to say.

The truth of the matter, however, is that some VERY interesting things are taking place here at the Quimby Compound. We have a show coming up at 98 Rock's Noise in the Basement at Fletcher's on 4/18/05. It's going to be killer show. Literally. One of the members of Vote Quimby will be murdered on stage in so gruesome a manner that I can't even post it on our website without a content warning. We will also be featuring three, brand new, never before heard songs that are guarenteed to rock you beyond your ability to form coherent statements! True, beer can have the same effect, but which will sound cooler when your dorky friends ask you on Tuesday morning, 4/19 what you had done the night before? "I stayed at home and drank beer." OR "I went to Fletcher's to drink beer, saw this really awesome murder by some Vote Gumby band that premiered three kick ass songs, and I even have blood and gore on my shirt to prove it. What's that? Yes, I sleep in my clothes." ... Think about it.

But even if you suck (and that suckage manifests itself in the form of not going to Fletcher's to see us) you can still catch us this weekend on College Radio Internet Broadcasts. You can find more details by visiting us on MySpace. We'll be playing some of our songs accoustically. Even we don't know how it will sound! And we'll be giving away stuff to anyone who calls in with answers to obscure trivia. So brush up on your Botony, 17th Century German Poetry, and Ancient Chinese Epistemology.

And above all else, dont' forget to Vote Quimby.

NINE FOUND ROCKED, DOZENS SEVERELY SWAYED
Posted on 3/12/05

A good time was had by all at the show at Woods last night. Big thanks to the folks who came out. Hopefully we'll make it back there again sometime soon.

Anyhow, that's all we've got scheduled for the rest of this month. We're taking some time to do another Not So Bad Studios project for the band "Opposable Thumbs" upcoming CD. At the same time, Evan is finishing up production on a release for the band "My Version of a Diary," who are definately worth checking out if you get a chance.

Next up is "Noise in the Basement" night for 98 Rock at Fletchers in Baltimore on 4/18/05. Be there or perish. We know where you live!!! .......okay, I admit it. We don't really know where you live. But come out to the show anyway damn it!

Following that, we're playing a private party here at the Quimby House in Annapolis, with Ballyhoo and Opposable Thumbs. If we know you, and you're interested in attending, it will be 10 bucks, but that covers beer & food. Drop me an e-mail at alex@votequimby.net if you're interested. C-ya.

NEW WEBSITE!
Posted on 2/25/05

Hello everyone and welcome to the new Vote Quimby website! As you can see, it's way the hell better than the last site. Props go to Dan Edwards from Art Barn for design.

2005 has been a very good year for the Quimby so far. We've completed our first video, which will be up here on the site for viewing at some time in the next month. And things couldn't be going better with our new guitar player, Ben. That guy learns material WAY too fast. Seriously. I wonder if he's actually a robot.............

We've also decided that we'll be recording a new disk via "Not So Bad Studios" in the coming months, and hope to go back into the Studio for a follow up release by the end of the year.

Anyway, take a look around the site and relax! We've got comics, and a short video by our good friend Mike Sipple (warning: the video is highly inappropriate and just plain wrong. But holy crap is it funny).
